Assoc Prof Dr Mohamed Faisal began his career in the Ministry of Health in 2003 and worked in various hospitals before transitioning to his current role in the same ministry. In 2017, he received fellowship training in respiratory medicine and underwent additional training in pleural disease, sleep, and pulmonary physiology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia. He established a pleural service at UKM and was among the first in Malaysia to obtain an import permit and successfully use intrapleural agents such as Alteplase and Pulmozyme for complex effusions.
During his time at UKM, he was the recipient of multiple awards, including the Excellence Service Awards in 2016. He also received several awards for his presentations and supervision at the Malaysian Thoracic Society (MTS) Congress and the Malaysian Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (MABIP) Congress. He is an active member of both organizations and currently serves as the head of the Pleural Special Interest Group at MTS. Dr Mohamed Faisal has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed local and international journals and has been invited to speak on various respiratory disorders at conferences throughout Malaysia.
