Physiotherapy helps restore movements and functions when you’re affected by injuries, illnesses or disabilities. We begin by identifying and resolving pain, before working on restoring strength, movements and functions as much as possible.
Our goal is to enable you to manage your physical movements independently, allowing you to return to familiar activities and a healthy lifestyle.
Let our team of specialists guide you to your independence. Research has proven that the earlier the treatment, the shorter the recovery period. Get in touch with our team so that we can put you on the fast lane to recovery right away.
Our physiotherapy & rehabilitation unit offers services to the various disciplines within the hospital via a referral system, catering to both inpatients and outpatients.
Electrotherapy covers a wide range of tools to promote tissue healing, reduce pain and to improve functions. The modalities are:
Utilises a mid-frequency current for treating muscular spasms and strains. The electrodes are placed on the area of pain or at a pressure point, creating a circuit of electrical impulses that travels along nerve fibres.
Uses high-energy sound waves to help ease painful joint and muscle sprains, bursitis and tendonitis.
(TENS) is a compact, battery-powered machine that employs low-voltage electrical current for pain relief.
Makes use of Infra-Red radiation to relieve muscle spasms and pain.
Triggers muscle contraction. Useful to train pelvic floor muscles, nerve injury and hypotonic muscles.
Penetrates deep into tissues to promote a faster healing process. Using HIL is suitable for treating deep muscle, spinal intervertebral disc and joint pains.
Therapeutic exercise emphasises on active participation of the patient rather than relying only on electrical and mechanical equipment. The session includes individual exercises, postural training and advice. This exercise helps to improve musculoskeletal, stroke and spinal conditions. Also ideal for sports injury, geriatric rehabilitation, arthritis, post-surgical condition and treatment of special children.
Manual therapy is conducted by hand and at times in combination with electrical mechanisms and treatments such as: ultrasonic, infrared rays, paraffin wax bath, interferential currents and more.
Chest physiotherapy is provided for treatment of lung disease. The session includes simple breathing exercises or the use of equipment to make breathing easier and to help patients clear their chests.
Thermotherapy, involves the use of heat to widen blood vessels and increase blood flow to the skin, creating a therapeutic effect on muscles and tissues.
Cryotherapy, including the use of ice bags and cold packs, helps to restrict blood flow to an injured area, preventing excessive bleeding and swelling.
Home educational and advice is also a service we provide to best manage your condition as well as future prevention. Education will not only serve patients well but also benefit the caregivers.
