Specialist Background

Dr Anis is an expert in vitreoretina surgery and obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) from Kulliyyah of Medicine, International Islamic University in Malaysia in 2003. He worked at Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang, specialising in Orthopaedics from 2004 to 2005 and then at Hospital Selayang as a Hospital Medical Officer specialising in General Surgery, Paediatrics and Ophthalmology from 2005 to 2007.

He went on to complete his Ophthalmologist Training Programme at Selayang Hospital from 2008 to 2012 and became an Honorary Lecturer of Ophthalmology at University Sabah in 2015. He also completed several vitreoretina fellowships in India and Thailand between 2016 and 2019.

Aside from his professional work, Dr Anis is also active in charity work, serving communities with limited access to eye care in rural Sabah. He has worked with various NGOs and gained valuable experience in medical and logistical relief coordination. Dr Anis most recently served as a Vitreoretina Surgeon in Selayang Hospital from June 2019 until December 2019 and in Klang Hospital from January 2020.
