As the sun rose over the city, energy filled the air at TwinCity Marathon 2026. With 25,000 runners taking on the route, the focus was not only on endurance and achievement, but also on safety, care, and human connection throughout the journey.
Behind the scenes and along the route, the medical team from Avisena Specialist Hospital stood ready from the very start. An ambulance was stationed on site, while medical personnel were strategically deployed along the course to ensure quick and efficient access to runners in need. To cover such a large and dynamic route, medics on motorbikes moved steadily through the course, allowing them to reach runners swiftly and without disruption.
What made the medical presence especially meaningful was not only the speed of response, but the proactive approach taken by the team. Rather than waiting for incidents to occur, medics continuously moved through the route, observing runners closely, offering support, and intervening early when signs of fatigue or distress appeared. Sometimes, it was something simple like offering a cooling spray or a brief check in that helped a runner regain confidence and continue safely.
The entire operation was carried out with calm, confidence, and professionalism. In an event of this scale, maintaining composure is just as important as preparation. The seamless coordination among the medical teams ensured that runners felt reassured, supported, and cared for throughout the marathon.

Leadership played a key role in this effort. Under the guidance of Dr Mohd Hilmi, the team rose to the challenge with dedication and unity. Many participants and spectators remarked on how visible and attentive the medical teams were along the route, which reinforced a strong sense of trust and safety during the event.
Beyond medical readiness, the experience reflected something deeper. It showcased the spirit of community care, where every runner mattered and every moment of assistance counted. This is the essence of Avisena, being present, being attentive, and putting people first.
As the final runners crossed the finish line, there was a shared sense of pride in what had been achieved together. TwinCity Marathon was not only a celebration of fitness and determination, but also a reminder of the importance of compassion and preparedness in large scale community events.
We look forward to meeting again next year, continuing this journey of care, safety, and community spirit.
